The Chicago River Swim for ALS
This weekend was such a special one for our family. My husband had the incredible opportunity to take part in the first organized Chicago River Swim since 1927. Watching him dive into the river, surrounded by the city’s skyscrapers and bridges, was truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
What made it even more meaningful was the purpose behind it all. This event wasn’t just about swimming — it was about making a difference. Each participant took on the challenge to raise awareness and funds for people living with ALS. Those dollars go directly toward research, care, and resources that families facing ALS so desperately need. It’s about giving hope, supporting loved ones, and moving closer to a future where this disease no longer has the last word.
The swim also shined a light on just how far the Chicago River has come — what was once unthinkable is now a reality. To see athletes safely swimming through the heart of our city was both historic and inspiring.
I couldn’t be prouder of my husband for being part of this milestone, for his dedication and commitment, and for using his swim to help families who are fighting such a difficult battle. It was a day we’ll never forget, and one that reminds us of the power of coming together for something bigger than ourselves.
