What NASCAR Taught Me About Trust
Today, I’m excited to share a new NASCAR feature that challenged me in ways I didn’t expect. While the video captures the thrill of getting behind the wheel of a NASCAR race car for the first time, the experience left me with a much deeper takeaway. Sometimes the greatest opportunities for growth arrive disguised as moments that make us nervous, uncertain, or completely out of our element.
Standing beside the car, I felt the anticipation that comes with any new challenge. The helmet, the safety briefing, and the realization that I was about to drive a race car all served as reminders that meaningful experiences rarely come with complete certainty. As I prepared to take the wheel, I thought about the many guests we have featured on the show who have embraced change despite not knowing exactly what would happen next. Their stories often begin with a decision to move forward before every answer is in place.
Once the car accelerated onto the track, my focus shifted completely. There was no time to dwell on what could go wrong. Instead, I had to stay present, trust the process, and respond to what was directly in front of me. The experience reinforced an important truth: many of the things we spend time worrying about lose their power once we begin. Action has a way of replacing hesitation with clarity.
That lesson applies far beyond a racetrack. Whether you’re starting a new job, pursuing a dream, sharing an idea, or entering an unfamiliar season of life, growth rarely arrives while standing still. It comes from engaging with the opportunity in front of you and allowing the experience itself to shape your confidence. A NASCAR race car may not be part of everyone’s journey, but the willingness to move forward despite uncertainty is something we can all relate to. Sometimes the most rewarding moments begin with a simple decision to say yes.
